More of the same

Today was better then yesterday but still pretty much the same as far not much else happened other then work.

I am reminded how blessed my life is when I deal with so many people many of whom are not so blessed as I am.  I need to try harder to remember thia when I am feeling tired and running low on patience.

That will be my goal for tomorrow.

Day 72 - UGH

I think everyone woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning.

I talked to and dealt with so many rude people.

These people for the most part claim how Important voting is for them and yet they waited until the last minute and when they find out they are not eligible it is somehow my fault.

I am just over rude people.

If its that important don't wait until the last minute.  And take some responsibility people.  Ugh!  

Because of all the rude people I am having a hard time feeling thankful...and tomorrow will probably just as bad if not worse so I'm not even looking forward to tomorrow.

I have my health, my family and my testimony for that I am thankful.

This post may be repeated for the next week or until after election day.

PS don't be rude to people who try to help you....especially when its your own fault.

Day 71 - She saved the day

Today my mom made us dinner.

It was so good.  And it was so nice to not have to cook.

And then my mom saved the day because I ran out of powdered sugar

for my cupcakes and she had some for me to borrow.

Mom's are great.  

Thankful for mine.

You see she really did save the day.

Butterfinger cupcakes for work tomorrow.

David taste tested and gave them a two thumbs up!

Day 70 - Soup

Its getting hard trying to come up with something to write because all my days are pretty much the same.

6:00 a.m. wake up

7:30 - Work day begins

amywhere from 5:30 to 7:00 work day ends

arrive home eat, go to bed

Today I did get off at 4:30

went to the store

came home cleaned a bit, put in some laundry

made soup

ate soup, and yummy fresh bread

So, today I guess I am thankful for the yummy homemade soup and the weather that made me feel like we could eat soup.

Tomorrow is Sunday, a much needed day of rest.

I am looking forward to my nap already!

I went to the first choir concert of the  new year tonight.

I have been going to Sheldons choir concerts for many years now and I just love them.  I never get tired of listening to those kids sing.

Tonight I got watch David singing and my heart just swelled with all kinds of joy, love, & pride.  

He is just such an awesome kid.  Seriously,  he is the best teenager.  If all teenagers were like him high schools would be the best places.

He gets good grades, he is happy, he has good friends, he still kisses me when I drop him off for seminary every morning, he always is concerned about me and wants to make sure I'm happy.  He loves his sisters and worries about them.  He is just turning into a wonderful man and I am so blessed to have him as my son.

And I was thinking about him as I watched him singing and I thought....boys are so much easier then girls....at least thats my experience.

Day 67 - Ciara

Elections wear me out.

I was thinking today I have probably two more election cycles to get through before I can retire.

I don't know how I'll do it.  I feel so old already.  I seriously feel so tired today.  

I also got yelled at today by an angry voter.  I have so little patience for ignorant people when I'm so tired.  And I still have two more weeks until Election Day.  Lets hope I make it.  

So what am I thankful for today.....Ciara . . . she made me laugh when I was so tired I felt like I couldn't move.  I love this girl and I can't wait till thanksgiving when I get to see her.

Ya, at least if I have to spend more time at work than I do at home I'm spending it with fun people.

And it's only going to get worse, but at least were having fun.

Day 65 - Long, long day

Very long, tiring day so the best I can come up with today is that

I am thankful today is over.

I will be glad when Nov. 7th is here.

Day 64 - Another week has come and gone

Another Week has come and gone....

I can't believe how fast time is passing.

David is already 15 1/2 and pestering me to get his driving permit

Katie has been married to the amazing Tom for 3 1/2 months

Ciara is half way done with this semester

Christmas is right around the corner

I have been posting on my thankful blog for 64 days now

I just can't believe how fast time is passing

It seems that I was just posting a Sunday blog yesterday

Today was Stake Conference.  I loved the talks.  All were centered around Christ.  All spoke about things I needed to hear.   

Two things really stood out to me today.

First, I need to be less judgmental and love others as Christ would

I am so thankful for Sundays and my leaders who are inspired and speak words that lift and inspire me to be a better person.

I love Leatherbys and I love that my husband will take me whenever I want to go.  Today I had to work (which I was not grateful for) and I was/am exhausted when I got home and my husband said lets go get dinner .....where ever you want,  I of course chose my favorite Leatherbys!  

I get the same thing every time egg salad, fries, and a hot fudge sundae with Swiss milk chocolate ice cream.  Yum!  And now it is time for sleep.

Day 62 - My Normal Life

My Normal Life

I deal with the public a lot for my job and this brings a lot of perspective.

It makes me really grateful for my normal life.

There are a whole lot of really strange people in the world and some days I think they all come into my work.  It also has made me realize that there are so many people who are paranoid and they live their life thinking everyone or the government is out to get them or is spying on them.  Or english is their second language and they have such a hard time communicating.  And then there are the  people who definitely have mental health issues.  I always wonder how do they manage to get through the day? 

And then nice things happen and make me realize that there are many good people out there...even if they don't look like good people. Today a blind man came in...he rode the bus and he got off on the wrong stop.  He had called our office to ask how to get there from where he got off.  We tried to direct him as best we could.  A few minutes later he came in and a really nice young man had helped him find his way that had met him on the street.  He realized that this man needed help and so he walked him to our office.  Now if I was to see this young man on the street I would not have thought that he would do something so kind.  In fact, I probably would avoid making eye contact and maybe even be little nervous.  I was reminded by this act of service that I really need to not be so judgmental.  But at the end of the day I am just really thankful for my normal, hum drum, everyday life.

Day 61 - ???

Today I am tired so tired.  I came home from work and pretty much died.  I fell asleep at 7:30 and I just woke up and its 9:30.  and im going finish this post brush my teeth and go to bed.  Election time makes me tired.  Is it bad that for the last 3 nights I've had lucky charms for dinner?  I'm really blessed to have a family that understands and is ok with fending for themselves.  And I'm thankful I have a job even during election time.

Day 60 - Hair cuts

Today after years of searching I finally found someone I like and who does a great job to cut my hair.  Do you even know how big of a deal this is?

I seriously have been looking for someone for about two years.  But today I got a haircut and I love it and the salon is really close to my house.  And she doesn't cost an arm and leg.  It almost seems too good to be true.

If I wasn't so tired I would post a picture of my hair but you'll have to wait for another day.

Day 57 - Sunday

I love Sundays.  I didn't always love Sundays I remember when I was younger Sunday was day of things I couldn't do...I couldn't play, I couldn't shop, I had to go to church.  I have since grown up and come to appreciate Sunday so much. I love that it is a day to re-fill my spiritual cup.  I can rest from my usual activities and focus more on my family, friends and think about what is really important.  

Today I was able to go listen to a newly returned missionary speak.  She gave a really talk and I really felt the spirit.  I love hearing the experiences of returned missionaries.  

I heard two things which stood out to me today the first Brittany shared

 John 16:33  "These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace.  In the world ye shall have tribulation:  but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world."

 and the second

"Satan will marshal all his his available forces to stop the kingdom, but he will not prevail:  "No unhallowed hand can stop the work from progressing; persecutions may rage, mobs may combine, armies may assemble, calumny may defame, but the truth of God will go forth boldly, nobly, and independent, till it has penetrated every continent, visited every clime,swept every country, and sounded in every ear, till the purposes of God shall be accomplished, and the Great Jehovah shall say the work is done."

Both of these quotes bring peace to my heart.

Day 56 - Quiet Time

I really love my family but sometimes I just really enjoy being home alone.

And tonight I was able to have a few hours of alone time.  And I loved it.

I love the quiet.  I love not having to do anything if I don't want to.  It is nice sometimes to just sit and be quiet.  

I am thankful today for quiet time.

And maybe netflix and my diet dr pepper :)

Day 55 - Sharing is the best

Today I am thankful that Stephen got a gift card to Chili's for his birthday.

We went there for dinner tonight.  It was so good.  Maybe it was so good cuz I didn't have to cook it.  Whatever, the reason....Thanks Dad Jensen for the great birthday gift.  We ALL thoroughly enjoyed it.

PS....being right is really a beautiful thing.  Today at work I was being yelled at by a very cranky man.  He was going on and on about how ignorant and stupid we were.  Come to find out he was the ignorant and stupid one.  The ballot he was telling me was wrong and our big mistake...well turns out it was his big mistake because it was a ballot from the June election.  Hah, hah!  Who is stupid now!  He had to eat big steaming plate of crow.  Some days its the small things that make me smile.

Just wanted to take a minute to say Happy Birthday to this guy

So thankful for him all he does for me and our family.

He is one of the hardest working men I know.

He just wants me and his kids to be happy.

He is a great Dad who loves to play with his kids!

We met in the fall of 1980 got married in 1985.  Wow, seems like just yesterday and yet it seems like I've known him forever.

Thanks for all you do for me.  I love you.

Day 52 - Tired

Feeling tired tonight.  I have been sitting here starring at the computer screen for far to long.  Today, was a busy day a work and it is only going to get busier. So, today I am grateful for being tired. I am tired because I have a job and even though I wish I didn't have to go to work everyday I am very grateful that I have been blessed with this job.

Today I am grateful for new friends.... and for late birthday presents.

If I was technically savvy I would share my late present with you but I am not so you'll just have to believe me when I say I am really blessed to have such amazingly talented people in my life.

I had told Katie and Tom that all I wanted for my birthday was for them to record a song for me.  And tonight I got my wish.

It's great and I love it.

Come Listen to a Prophets Voice

It is so great that we have a living Prophet on the earth today.

Our Father in Heaven loves us and  He still speaks to us through His Prophets just as he did when the prophets of old were on the earth.  Doesn't that make complete sense?  Why wouldn't He still want to talk to us?

I love watching/listening to General Conference it is such a blessing.

Day 47 - Cooler weather = sweats!

I am so thankful the weather is FINALLY turner cooler and you know what that means.......I can wear sweats!!!!!

And if you know me you know how much I love sweats and to top it all off today I got a new sweatshirt!  Woo Hoo!!

So Hip Hip Hooray for sweats weather....my favorite. 

Goodbye  summer heat...hello cool fall weather.

I am grateful that I live in a country where our leaders can debate in a peaceful environment.  Where we are free to choose who we wish to lead our country without worry of retribution.  I think we often take for granted how blessed we are to live in America and the freedoms it offers.   

Please remember to go and vote on election day Nov. 6th.  It is so important to make sure your voice is heard.  Do your homework, study it out and even pray about who you think is the best person to lead our country and then go and vote.  If your not registered its not to late you have until Oct. 22 to get registered (well at least in California).  

Every vote counts!

So, today I am grateful for boxes in the mail and my best friend.

This came today...from my best friend.  I love boxes that come for me in the mail!  Just something about getting a box...makes you feel so special doesn't it.

Thanks Connie for my present and for remembering me on my birthday.

And on a side note that puzzle you see up there was painted by my other friend Julies husband.  I saw the original at their house while he was painting it.  So, that makes it even more special.  

Day 44 My Cartoons

My Cartoons

Cartoons just aren't the same as they used to be.  First, of all cartoons were only on TV on Saturday mornings.  So, it was a real treat to sit down and watch your favorite cartoons.  Also, they were just simpler and fun.  My favorites were The Flinstones and Bugs Bunny.  I also watched the Road Runner but I always felt bad for the Coyote because no matter what he did...he always got hurt...every week, every episode he was smashed, run over, beat up etc.  But he always came back for more.   Anyway, I'm thankful for my cartoons....they are the best.
